the orange tree
installation

During the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, an orange tree that was in a Baha'i sacred garden, was hacked in two, chopped to little pieces and burnt to ashes. This act was meant to symbolize the destruction of the Baha'i Faith. In previous years, Baha'is from around the globe had taken seeds or cuttings of that same tree during their visits to that garden. Therefore, the tree has not really been destroyed.
